Get to know me
My name is Elika Nikouee and I'm a first generation Iranian American. When I was younger, I watched as the kids around me found joy and awe in the simplest of things. I enjoyed capturing these moments and would even create stories in my head of what they might be thinking or doing. I went from keeping those images in my head to illustrating them with different mediums every chance I got. I never imagined what I thought was just a hobby of creating fantasy environments and storyline imagery was something that I could do professionally.
Through creating, I want to be able to tell visual stories with anything from lush backgrounds, intricate concept designs, to visually developing detailed environments for video games and shows. I mainly work digitally and aspire to be an artist like Rebecca Sugar and Laura Price. I generally take inspiration from those around me to start my creative process for a piece. I make sure to do research into history and references on the topic of what I'm creating to make them as accurate as I can. I try to invoke feelings with my work that relates it to the viewer and I want them to be able to create their own story with the inspiration they derived from mine.
I want to try and dig deeper into free lance and industry work. I love working and learning from others so contact me for work if you're interested.
